Quick Tips – How to do the Turkish Get Up (part 2)
Now that you have the foundational components of The Turkish Get up established from the first part of the Quick Tip Series it is now time to add then next elements and complete the exercise and get you on your way towards Get Up Mastery.
Half Kneeling Windmill
It is time to explore this unique movement, the Half Kneeling Windmill. When you get up off the floor and begin to ascent into the standing position, this movement is critical as it takes a lot of core strength and stability. Many of our exercises do not address lateral spinal flexion which makes this movement difficult if you have not been exposed to it.
Get Good with the Lunge
In the Turkish Get Up it is very important to learn to get up off the floor, from a dead stop, from a lunge.
Go From Top to Bottom
You now have all the pieces you need to complete a full get up, however you still may want to get a little more practice in. By starting from the top and working your way down to the floor, all of the technical aspects of the exercise are utilized in a slightly easier manner.
Full Get Up
You now have all the pieces you need to complete a full get up. Make sure to stabilize each position before you move on to the next.
